Pandya was included in India's Test squad as a batsman for their home series against England in late 2016, but was eventually left out after he injured himself while training in the nets.

Pandya has played 11 Tests for India, 532 runs with an average of 31.29 and with one century and four half-centuries to his name.

He has also picked 17 wickets with the average of 31.05 and has also picked a 5-wicket hail his best bowling figure is 5/28 in an inning.

Pandya made his One Day International (ODI) debut for India against New Zealand on 16 October 2016 at Dharamshala.

He became the fourth Indian to be named player of the match on ODI debut after Sandeep Patil, Mohit Sharma and K. L. Rahul.

On 18 June 2017, in the final of the Champions Trophy at the Oval, he struck a 43-ball 76 in a losing cause, after coming in with India at 54/5 following a top order collapse.

Pandya has played 45 ODIs for India, and has scored 731 runs with the average of 29.24 and strike rate of 1116.58 that includes four half-centuries. He has picked 44 wickets with the average of 39.72.
