Badrinath is one of India’s Char Dham.

Badrinath is the only temple in India’s four pilgrimage sites which is situated in the Himalayan region. And also Badrinath is one of the highest temples of Lord Vishnu which is surrounded by snow and other mountains.

Badrinath is situated at a height of 3,133 m (10,279 ft) above sea level. It is close to the last Himalayan village of Indian “Mana” and shares the border with China.

Lord Vishnu once sat at this place for meditation according to a Hindu legend. The weather was really cold and Goddess Laxmi protected him in the form of a berry tree.

According to the legends, the Badrinath shrine was re-established by Adi Shri Shankaracharya. The high priest at the Badrinath temple is from the clan of Adi Shri Shankaracharya.

Badrinath is set between two mountains - Nar and Narayana.

t is believed that the Badrinath temple is closely related to the Narasimha temple in Joshimath.
